Shopping at JP Books!

Hello again! I'm back from my holiday! It's horrible coming back from a sunny holiday to the cold and dreariness of London boooo...but it's nice to be home! Okay so this blog post will be about something I never thought I'd progress in at all: studying Japanese. Now I made a post around this time two years ago about it being a goal of mine and, as you will find out in a few moments, it didn't work out so well! (´Д`。) But for some reason, in the last couple of months I have somehow persevered enough to see an improvement...however I am still a beginner so don't expect me to show off anything I've learnt in this post haha!

How it all started

I first contemplated studying Japanese (properly) around 4 years ago. I felt confident I could do it. Everyone else was, so I would too! I diligently downloaded one of the language apps on my iPod (didn't have a smartphone to download apps lol) and learnt all hiragana in a week. Then I promptly forgot about it and went about my life. Two years after that I decided that I would start studying again, and this time I would not give up! (I actually made it a New Years resolution for 2013 to start studying again.) I downloaded language apps on my iPhone, asked friends for study book recommendations and dropped £55 on 6 study books so that I could start learning hiragana and katakana. I was so excited about it and managed to get halfway through the first book before...you guessed it, I lost motivation and gave up again. Fast forward to November just gone, and my friend's asking me how far I've gotten in my studies. Me *sheepish grin* erm...I kinda gave up?

And now?

And THAT'S the story that nobody asked for of how I decided to stop being a lazy butt and start my studies again (for the third time). All because I was so embarrassed that I had made zero progress in like two years. Fortunately for me when I restarted the first book (learning hiragana) I found that I had a vague memory of what I had learned before so it wasn't too hard to learn it all again...ok it was, my memory is so bad omg ⊙︿⊙

Anyway I decided to buy a few more books to help me and I found that a great place to shop for these books is JP Books!

(This isn't the official bag but when I went there in October they gave me my items in this bag ^^)

They're based near Piccadilly Circus, just around the corner from Japan Centre. Not only do they sell books (duh), manga and a ton of magazines but they also have stationary, dvds (including concerts), and character goods such as Rilakkuma! They have really good resources as well for those who want to study Japanese and they give a student discount! too bad I'm not a student anymore... They also have a stamp system: for every 30 stamps (1 stamp per £4 spent) you get a £10 voucher! I have 12 so far, I'm nearly halfway there lol.

So here's what I've purchased from there to help me with my studies (in some shape or form):

1: The 100 Word Exercise Book This is really meant for a teacher to use in class but I think it's still handy to have exercises that are meant to be fun or at least...different from studying straight from a textbook all the time!

2: Read and Speak Japanese It's nice to hear day to day conversations and just get used to the accents and fluency. I guess you can find like radio stations and films and stuff to get that too lol but I find this book useful in that it covers the speaking part of learning a language. I find that I'm concentrating too much on reading and I forget that reading and speaking goes hand in hand!

3: Shirokuma Cafe This manga is about a polar bear who owns a cafe. I saw someone recommend it as a good beginners tool to translate and I'm finding it really useful!

4: Hello Kitty x Yubisashi Guidebook It's a phrasebook that you give to other people to read so they can understand what you want to say.

I guess it's not so much for studying but it still serves it's purpose as a general phrasebook so you can learn some interesting things such what the currency looks like and it has a mini English to Japanese dictionary at the back!

Plus it has Hello Kitty in it so it gets 10/10 from me LOL!!

5: Blank Word Cards Exactly what it looks like. Basically portable flash cards lol.

Very handy, although you have to be careful not to learn the words/phrases you write down in a set order but to shuffle the cards every now and then so you can memorise them properly.

6: Visual Language Learning Cards Again, exactly what it looks like! Hiragana and Katakana portable learning cards. And they were on sale, only £1.50 lol!

So that's what I've bought so far from JP Books! As well as Zipper magazine lol

NOTE: So I know that you can find free resources and vocabulary lists so easily online but isn't it nicer to have things in book form? I dunno, that's just me. I learn better from having a physical book. I've got some apps on my ipad but I think it's nice to have books as well, it's like having a personal study library!

♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡

Something I've learned

It's really hard to do something, even if it's a really big goal, when you're not motivated. And you can lose your motivation at any time, in the planning stages, before you even start taking steps to reach your goal. It's so easy as well, just a little hint of self doubt, "there's no way I can do this!", can cause you to fail before you've even started. And that's what I used to be like....well, what I'm still like!

There are days where I don't want to study because I feel like everyone's racing far ahead of me, they've already learned a lot of grammar and vocabulary and I can't even string a sentence together without help from a book. Learning a new language is no easy feat, although there are those who find it easier than others.

But then I think about the fact that I can recognise this word without help from a dictionary or I can read the name of a packet of sweets or that I've now completed two of my study books and that makes me happy. It makes me happy because I've made progress, no matter how small it may be. At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter if someone else is doing miles better than me, because I never thought I'd make it this far in the first place! I tend to write down my accomplishments and stick them on my wall so when I wake up, before I go to sleep, when I'm just in my room I can see what I have learnt. Pride is not a completely bad thing: it's good to be proud of your accomplishments!

When you start and you make progress, no matter how small it is, you'll start feeling encouraged and work harder so you can progress even more. It just gives you a good feeling of accomplishment, and that's important! I hope this encourages even just one person to never give up on their goals!

I will make a future post showing what other resources I use, including online and on my iPad. I really hope you found this post useful!

Disasteriffic!!!

The title comes from everyone's favourite game Final Fantasy X-2!!! (So corny but I find myself saying it out loud every now and then lol oops) So basically the disaster is that I've lost my Animal Crossing New Leaf game. It's gone!!!!!! ;;A;; I really don't know what I've done with it, it could be anywhere in my house and since it's one of the only two DS games that I actually play...yeah I'm kinda upset. I made a lot of progress for those four houses and for all the paths too. I'm just grateful that I chose the flower ordinance so my town shouldn't be too messy when I eventually find the game!

So because I can't make any more ACNL posts for awhile, I've decided to talk about Disney Magical World, which I've been playing nonstop for like the past week lol.

It's been out in Japan and America for awhile but it's only been out in Europe for a few months now. Aaaaaah, it's so addictive! You get to meet your favourite Disney characters, wear their outfits, beat up monsters using magical wands, dance in balls.......did I mention this game is aimed at 7 year olds? No? Ok, now you know.

BUT NOONE CARES BECAUSE you get to do all the fun things I mentioned before and more!! (I'm doing such a bad job of justifying me playing this game lol)

Like meeting Alice!!!!!!!!!! And more Disney characters ranging from Peter Pan to Snow White to Aladdin! But most importantly Alice ok??! I need to chill lol....

There's 100 stickers to collect for completing tasks for townsfolk and Disney characters, collecting cards, having this amount of clothes and making that amount of furniture....there's surprisingly a lot to do. It's very addictive, and because I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to games I want to get 100% for everything hehe. So far I have 90 stickers! ᕙ( : ˘ ∧ ˘ : )ᕗ

Here are some screenshots I took of some of the things you can do in this game:

                                                                 Collecting cards

You can get normal, rare and super rare cards. This one is super rare!

Collecting items including food, wood, flowers and even bubbles lol

Running a cafe!

Making and trying on clothes!

Fishing!

There's so much more to do so I won't spoil it lol. It's cute right? And I'm not lying when I say this game is addictive. I've been playing it nearly every single day because obviously I have no life whilst on holiday.

My next post will either be a holiday post (which will be 99%  full of pictures of the beach ;A;) or something to do with Kingdom Hearts 2.5 because it's sitting on my bed waiting for me to get home and play it and I can't WAIT!! So I guess I'll see you then!

(By the way, sorry about the quality of these pics, I don't know if it's because it's from the 3DS that makes it  kinda blurry...but anyway thanks for reading my post, hope you enjoyed it!! ^^)

Byeeeeeeee!

ACNL: My Town's Progress!

Many centuries ago I made a post about trying to fix my town Disorder before the spring blossom season was over and yeah....evidently I failed pretty hard. HOWEVER many months later I've decided to go back and try and fix everything because it's just so damn ugly and whenever I see other people's towns I get pretty jealous loool. I think it looks okay now, probably about 50-60% done, but I still think that there's something missing.

Paths!

In my previous post I complained about my path taking up all of the space on the patterns page. Currently I have a simple brick path (qr code here) which I like because it only uses one up one slot on the patterns page.

However, I had several problems concerning the grass codes. Namely, I wanted too many and a lot of the shades of green differ to each other so it doesn't really match....I mean it's not terrible but I certainly notice it and it bothers me just a little bit lol.

Other Town Features:

I'm still waiting to get more PWPs, namely the windmill, fairy-tale style lamp post, wood bench, water pump, hammock, bell, picnic blanket....ok I want lots of things! ;;A;; This is literally all I've got so far:

When I get the wood benches I'll swap these yellow ones out lol

Fairytale clock ^^

Mini Playground heh :3

I'm also trying to fill up my beach with white roses for some reason. Idk I just like having lots of flowers in my town. I had to sell so many the other day, it made me upset ):

And I also have a lighthouse, a fountain and a flower clock. Now you see why my PWPs wishlist is so long!! ;;A;;

Halloween Costumes:

It'll be Halloween in ACNL soon so I dressed up all my characters!

I actually can't remember where I got this code from omg... ):

Bunny Kyary :3
(in a nurse outfit and ballerina shoes, idek what she's meant to be tbh....)

I literally typed in "ACNL halloween qr codes" in google and found this outfit lmao

Found this outfit here ^^

So that's it for this update. Feel free to visit my town Disorder, you'll be warmly welcomed! ^^

The town code is: 6000-3702-9110

If you want me to visit your town then feel free to leave your code in the comments, I really don't mind.

Thanks for reading my post!

..........hi? |_・)

Every time I type up a post I read over it, save it to drafts, then exit Blogger and not look at it for like a month. I don't know. I just always have so much going on and not enough time too do things and when I finally get a day off I spend it reading manga and just generally doing a whole lot of nothing...exciting right?

So right now my mind has been filled with work, manga and my impending holiday (yuuuuss). I really have nothing else going on in my life, so boring right? Well right now I DON'T CARE because wow, a lot has happened!! So my main manga/animes are currently the popular ones lol sorry I'm just so predictable:

♡ Shingeki No Kyojin/Attack On Titan ♡

♡ Zankyou no Terror/ Terror In Resonance (or Tokyo)

♡ Toukyou Kushu/Tokyo Ghoul ♡

I'm also firmly attached to Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy, in particular FFX and X-2 so I might talk about those games and my progress in their remasters in another post.

Also let me just say now sorry if I make mistakes regarding names because there's so many variations of them (especially regarding SNK lol) so if it's wrong then I'm sorrrryyyy ). Also this post will contain SPOILERS!!! so if you haven't caught up with any of these then please read no further!!!

                                   *********************************************************************************

Attack on Titan!!! So today I read chapter 62 and gooooosh things seem to be picking up right? We all guessed what happened to poor Grisha so that wasn't really a surprise but just who was that female titan?? Also Eren always seems to be getting the short end of the stick the poor thing. Things seem to be looking up, disregarding Eren's situation, and Levi Erwin surviving another chapter always makes me happy.

My brother thinks that the current arc is boring, because it's more about human politics and less about fighting titans but I think it's good to have the balance between both. Also, we're finally seeing the "real enemy" and the plots going on in the government behind the scenes so it's quite refreshing, in my opinion anyway.

I bought the guidebook the other day and finished it so quickly! It was a good read, despite just basically going over things we already know. I was gonna scan some pages to put here but jfc bending the pages was just too much for me, it is a tiny book, and someone on tumblr already did it so you can see them here! Seriously, this person deserves cookies or something.

                                     *********************************************************************************

Tokyo Ghoul!! It makes me laugh thinking about how many favourite characters I have from that manga. I can be so superficial with these things haha. Ok so I love practically everyone: Kaneki (who doesn't.........................................seriously who doesn't ಠ_ಠ) Uta (violent eye twitch), Juuzou, Arima, Amon ughhhhhhhhh ok so everyone. This manga makes me feel so conflicted because I feel like I'm siding with the "enemy" but since we get to know characters from both sides of the scale I just......I can't help it ok!! But my number one fave is Kaneki. That's unusual for me because I tend to prefer background or side characters not the main one hmm...He's my dp and header on twitter lol:

Also the fact that there's still so many questions to answer at the end of chapter 143. Not just the obvious ones like "what happened to Kaneki/Amon/Hide??!!!" etc but also things like WTF ETO and I'd really like more information about certain characters like Tatara and that damn clown gang and how they came to be. Here's hoping there's a sequel so we can all get our questions answered!

But let me be a bit mature: Kaneki and his mother, so they have the same personality type as me. As in, they work hard for others even to the point of disregarding their own health. I don't know if it's to the point of being scared of others opinions like I am but overworking yourself and causing unnecessary stress in situations where the stronger option is walking away or JUST SAYING NO FOR ONCE.........yeah, it's similar. So that's probably why this manga hit hard with me...........not to mention Kaneki's suffering omg. It's so true though, focusing so hard on making other people happy always seems to hurt YOU instead, when really you should be having a more positive life and fortune as a result in good karma. It's not fair, but I guess it's just the way the world works.....

I don't even know if any of that made sense but I'm (unfortunately) not like those people who can write essays about character development and chapter analysis and all that jazz.

Errrm so I finally watched all 12 episodes of the anime yesterday after reading everyone's complaints about it and thinking "well it can't be that bad..." and to be honest: it wasn't. It wasn't bad at all. It was actually really good. Yes ok it was rushed, definitely. Since I read the manga first I already knew what was meant to happen so I wasn't disappointed (seeing as I didn't have high hopes for the anime anyway lol) so I just enjoyed seeing everyone...animated! The last two episodes though....the screaming was just too much for me oh my gosh, all of that suffering.....because of a date!!!

IMPORTANT EDIT: IT HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED THAT WE'RE GETTING SEASON 2 AND A MANGA SEQUEL YAAAAAAAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok so I didn't talk about Terror In Resonance because I really have nothing to say about it apart from that it was bloody addicting and I loved every episode. The plot was great, the characters were great, even the ending (sad as it was) was great so yeah, nothing but positives from me! Also I've noticed that my Animal Crossing post got a lot of views so I might make another post about what my town looks like now since my houses have changed quite a bit. I don't play it as much as I should though oops...

Anyway sorry about all my ramblings and my excessive use of punctuation marks. And the fact that I haven't posted anything for like, 5 months now (๑◕︵◕๑) sorry

Thanks for reading!!

Little Twin Stars goods

So my order from Strapya World/Hamee arrived today! It was a tiny order: a Little Twins Stars Fabric Cooler Lunch Tote Bag and Kiki and Lala key rings. Unfortunately when I looked on the website it seems that they have sold out those key rings, but they have others! (They also gave me some free chopsticks lol)

The bag is small but very cute! It's just big enough to hold a small bento/lunch box and a flask or drink and it doesn't seem flimsy at all.

The design is very cute!

On the website they also had a set of three bento boxes and a white tote bag to go with this set. I just wanted the lunch tote. It allows your food to stay cool or hot for long periods of time. It is very suitable for picnics and travel!

Next, the key rings!

They're really cute! I'll hang them on my Little Twin Stars lanyard...

In other news....

Here's my OOTD for today! ^^

Also, the other day the GazettE World Tour 2013 dvd arrived!

I watched it yesterday and I swear it was the funniest thing I've ever seen. I don't even think it was meant to be that funny but it made me laugh so I hard I cried. It was like a comedy show or something, so many jokes! I reeeeally hope they come to London again but actually, saying that, I really want to see them play in their own country! (future goal) ੭•̀ω•́)੭̸*✩⁺˚

Finally, I have updated my blog on tumblr and changed the theme around (it features Kyary!) I have also added an About Me page so please check it out! (☞゚∀゚)☞ Coloursofthespring

Thanks for reading!!

Kyary concert!!! 29/04/14 (ॢ˘⌣˘ ॢ⑅)

(hoodie logo)

So this is the second time I've been to Kyary's concert...

...and I must say that she did not disappoint! I made a long tweet about this when I got back home from the concert on Tuesday so I'm just gonna copy/paste so lazy LOL but I've said pretty much all I wanted to say in that tweet so heeeere it is! (slightly edited and with added pictures ^^)

"Just got back from the concert! It was amazing as expected, although I was super sad that I couldn't go with @xiumii and @rionbaka48 so I was by myself ): It was still great though, I managed to stand at the front on the far right, just behind this couple. Although there were some tall people in front I still managed to get a couple of decent pictures and see quite a bit.

The stage:

Queen Kyary:

^ Those were the best pictures I was able to take.. ): (I'm sure you can find much better ones elsewhere haha!! There's loads here for example.) And after about two songs I put my phone away so I could just enjoy the concert lol. This was the closest I've ever been near the front of a concert before so I'm happy! ^^ Kyary is SO ADORABLE omg she was making some cute faces lol and the dancers were incredible, I think they were the same from last year? idk but A* for effort/talent/awesomeness/winning at life (ˇ_ˇ”) ƪ(˘⌣˘)┐ ƪ(˘⌣˘)ʃ ┌(˘⌣˘)ʃ

Ok so I'm gonna be one of those annoying people and say that....OMG KYARY SMILED AT ME like I'm 99.9% (actually 0.1% lol) certain that she smiled at me because the person in front of me was bending over to get something from his bag and she was on our side of the stage and I was like OMG *SMILES AND WAVES LIKE A CRAZY PERSON* and she smiled back my life has been made ahahhaha I bet she didn't even see me but ok... *end delusional rant* (´∀`)♡

Also I'm pretty sure my ugly face is on a camera lol the man stood right beside me with it whilst I was clapping like a damn seal (/_\) cameraman pls edit my face out LOL!

As for the merch....disappointed that there were no cd's, or posters ): They had a world tour photobook, t-shirts in white and blue, a white hoodie, a pink towel, a "poo" keychain (omg LOL). I bought a t-shirt and hoodie for myself and two t-shirts for my friends. I also got a little sticker and badge for signing up to the newsletter. Apparently the goods sold out really quickly D: I'm glad I got my stuff before the concert instead of after...

Overall thoughts: yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! ☆*・゜゚・*\(^O^)/*・゜゚・*☆ "

Picture from Harajuku Kawaii Style

So that was my opinion. Sooooo not biased at all ^^ By the way, click here for the setlist, well this one is for France but I'm pretty sure it's the same.

My Outfit:

{Pale pink XL shirt (UNIQLO), a Kyary 2013 World Tour black t-shirt, a black miniskirt (H&M) and low black patent doc marten rip offs from New Look lol (idc I love them) with pink/lace and cream/ice-cream patterned socks, both from Topshop. I put my hair in two small buns and wore Barbie hairbands, and also wore my Little Twin Stars lanyard. And bought along a black rucksack (Accessorize) and my pink Little Twin Stars tote (Artbox). I literally decided on this outfit so last minute lol}

I'm so glad that I went, and I'd definitely go again! My dream is to hear 'choudo ii no' live omg, that's one of my favorite Kyary songs!

Thanks for reading my crazy post lol!
